Te Ara Toi Gallery Exhibition

Nga Wahine e Whitu

30 May to 26 July 2008

Official opening of the
Matariki Muriwhenua 2008 Festival
30 May - Powhiri at 5.30 pm

Te Ara Toi Gallery opened to a small but enthusiastic gathering on 1 June 2007 and its exhibition Nga Wahine e Whitu ran until July 26th. Esta Procter is the Gallery convener/ consultant and also volunteers her time in the Centre. It is just the beginning! We have more exhibitions in store and the centre is also exploring many other promotional events to market the Awanui Visitor Centre, its members, all the artists and crafts people, the community and businesses, our district, region and Aotearoa.

The Welcome Mat, a free community newsletter we have begun, is in its second print. Its a fun way to talk to the community and let them know what you do.

Cheryl would like to thank all the artists for contributing their work and for believing in the potential of Awanui Visitor Centre. Thanks to Whanau and friends for their continued awhi.

Our second exhibition, of works by Lydia Smith, was held in August 2007.
